In the fjords of Tenakee Springs, Alaska, Sitka Spruce logs once served an ingenious purpose. Pinned and chained together, they formed corrals that trapped salmon in the pristine waters. For decades, these logs soaked in the cold sea, undergoing a natural transformation impossible to replicate.
Rescued in the early 1990s and carefully barn-stored, this sinker wood has emerged as something extraordinary: lightweight, remarkably stable and possessing a tonal clarity that only saltwater curing can achieve.
The Salvage Series pairs these finite Sinker Sitka Spruce tops with old Mahogany back and sides, creating instruments where history and acoustic character converge.
